What people in the
Lutheran Church Missouri Synod believe:
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. We understand that God the
Holy Spirit inspired its contents and words. The Holy Spirit led the writers
to put down the truths which God wants people to know.
We believe, based on the Bible, that God is the
Triune God. This means that
God has told believers that He is One while having three persons. These three
persons are:
 | the Father, who is the Creator and Sustainer of life.
|
 | the Son, Jesus Christ, who was conceived, born, lived and died
without sin. His death in His sinlessness was to take away the punishment
for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead. In this action He showed Himself
as winner over sin, death, and the devil. He rose up to heaven and now is
with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
|
 | the Holy Spirit, whose responsibility is to call, bring together,
teach and strengthen the church on earth with faith leading to service. |
We believe that God has given us two sacraments. These are:
 |
Holy Baptism, through the placing of water in connection with the Word of God
(Romans 6), the person who is baptized experiences the washing away of
original and actual sin, and becomes a member of the Body of Christ.
|
 | Holy Communion, for Jesus gave this gift to believers so that we could
receive the assurance of the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation.
We
understand that the bread and wine do not change in substance. Jesus places
His body and blood "in, with and under" the substance of the bread
and wine. |
We believe the following are signs of an active Christian life:
 | Worship in Gods house. We encourage all members to worship God
weekly, for we are not to "forsake the gathering of Gods people
together" (Hebrews 10).
|
 | Bible study: many Bible studies are available both on Sunday and other
days of the week. God desires His people to be in communication with Him,
and one way for God to communicate with people is through the Bible.
Studying the Bible in a group enhances the opportunity to learn and
understand the message of the Bible better.
|
 | Service: Gods people are to be involved with each other.
Staff cover
many responsibilities of the church, but volunteers do many more
activities at the church or in the community. Working for the Lord is fun!
|
 | Tithing: God makes it clear through His Word (Deut. 26) that people of
faith respond to him by returning a portion of their income (10%) to the
Lord. After this gift is given, the joy of cheerful giving begins, all of
which is optional. |
In summary, God desires a relationship with all people.
This relationship
is called faith. It comes about because of Gods grace and love extended to
humans. People respond to this grace and love with an understanding of the
forgiveness of sins and the love for God. This becomes a lifelong walk, which
results in eternal life with God.
